Sir Kenneth Stowe

Compact VoiceCompact Voice were very sad to learn of the death of Sir Kenneth Stowe, who passed away on 29 August 2015.

Sir Kenneth played a key part in the creation of the original 1998 Compact, and, in his role as Chair of the English voluntary and community sector’s Working Group on Government Relations, was one of its co-signatories. He was also instrumental in subsequently developing a set of accompanying codes of good practice and championing adoption of the Compact’s principles across England.
Sir Kenneth worked as a senior civil servant for many years; the positions he held included Principle Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Permanent Secretary of the Northern Ireland Office and Permanent Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Security.
