DWP internal Compact awards celebrate partnership working

dwpThe Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently organised an internal Compact Awards to celebrate good practice in partnership working within the department.
The Awards received over 30 nominations, which celebrated partnerships developed by different DWP teams from across the country, and voluntary and community organisations.
Winning nominations came from JobCentre Plus teams, the National Employer Service Team, the National Partnership Team and the DWP Community 10,000 Team (which encourages staff volunteering within the civil service).
The winners were invited to a seminar and workshop, and were presented with their awards by DWP’s permanent secretary, Robert Devereux.
Compact Voice attended the event and gave the winners a presentation about the voluntary sector more widely – its size and scope, the benefits of working with the sector – as well as information about local Compacts, national Compact developments across other departments and what the Compact means for DWP.
The awards process highlighted that there is good partnership working across the sectors taking place in every department, often under the radar. The awards also served as a way of linking this partnership working with the Compact, and demonstrating how it can benefit their work by helping to maintain and strengthen these partnerships.
We’ve published a blog outlining the Awards process in more detail – something we will be encouraging other departments to replicate.
