Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner signs up to local Compact

Richard Rhodes, Cumbria's PCC (pictured), has signed up to the Cumbria Compact.

Cath Cook, Compact Voice's Engagement Development Officer, who works across the north of England said:

“I would encourage other Police and Crime Commissioners to follow Richard Rhodes excellent example, and get involved with their local voluntary and community sector. Signing up to the Compact is an excellent way of doing this".
Signing up to a local Compact sends out a strong signal that PCCs are committed to working in partnership with voluntary and community sector organisations. Local Compacts cover many issues relevant to PCCs, including engagement, understanding local need, and providing voice for different communities.

Signing up to a local Compact can provide a key point of access for Police and Crime Commissioners to engage with their local voluntary sector, and also represents standing behind something which has a clearly defined role and recognised purpose and which has been developed based on local priorities.

Compact Voice has developed a couple of short briefings that voluntary organisations can use to encourage their PCC to sign up to their local Compact as a way of connecting with their local voluntary sector. Download these from our resources section.
