Candidates in Cheadle [Region: North West]
Mr Mark Hunter
1. How important is the charity and voluntary sector to your constituency?
Very important. I have large and small charities based in my constituency and most are well aware they can rely on me for support. We are fortunate in this area - half of the Stockport borough - in that we have a thriving voluntary sector again which I really support - people who give their time without reward ought to be highly valued.
2. What efforts will you make - if elected - to work with local charities and voluntary sector organisations in your constituency?
I'm a regular visitor to key charities in the constituency and have hosted events for some of them; Seashell Trust, Together Trust etc in Parliament. I am happy to pledge to continue to work closely with all charities and voluntary sector groups if I am fortunate enough to be elected.
3. Will you champion the Compact in your constituency, to encourage better partnership working between the local public sector and the voluntary and community sector?
Yes. In Stockport which carries my constituency, we have a well established cuncil for Volluntary Service and partnership working is really quite advanced - but much more remains to be done.
