If elected - and if not - I will continue to work with local charities and the voluntary sector and will champion the role of the volunteer. I will continue to encourage better partnership working between the local public sector and the voluntary and community sector.
I am an active volunteer in many local groups and started the Community Chest - a grants scheme the local council runs to help community organisations with one-off funding for specific projects. This has made a huge difference to local groups and through my role as a Councillor, I have significant contact with voluntary groups helping with questions and levering in grants to support their work.
