On the Record: UK General Election Candidates on the Compact
Welcome. This site highlights the views of England's sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) and Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs) on the Compact, which sets out how the public sector and the voluntary and community sector in England work together to benefit the communities they serve. It also provides their views on the role of the voluntary and community sector in serving their constituency.

During the election campaign, Compact Voice asked all PPCs running in the spring 2010 election 4 questions:

1. How important is the charity and voluntary sector to your constituency?

2. What efforts will you make - if elected - to work with local charities and voluntary sector organisations in your constituency?

3. Will you champion the Compact in your constituency, to encourage better partnership working between the local public sector and the voluntary and community sector?

The results are now in and 44 of the respondents were elected to Parliament. Compact Voice intends to hold these elected members to the promises made during their campaign for election, to ensure they champion the Compact and promote an environment where the voluntary sector can thrive.
